BIOGRAPHY OF MARTHA TILAAR

Biografi Martha Tilaar - Pengusaha Kosmetik Sukses


Martha Tilaar was born in Kebumen, Central Java, September 4, 1937, she was a Leading Cosmetics entrepreneur by the name of Sariayu Martha Tilaar's trademark. She married with H.A.R Tilaar and had four children, they are Bryan Emil Tilaar, Pinkan Tilaar, Wulan Tilaar, Kilala Tilaar. Martha Tilaar is a grandmother who never give up. When others say impossible, she is still stay to try. Incidentally, her husband get a chance to study abroad. She also took and graduated from a beauty Academy of Beauty Culture, Bloomington, Indiana, USA.

After she had graduated from the Academy of beauty, Martha soon opened a beauty salon in the country practices USA. She made  a simple brochure, leaflet promoting the services her salons. Various efforts had been done, finally she opened a small salon in her father’s garage. She continued to attempt to develop it had her salon, two years later in 1972 she was opening a second salon on the road Wine No.3 Cipete, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, while she was starting a new Sariayu trademark use of Martha Tilaar.

 

Because she was motivated beauty Indonesian girls that must be preserved, she eventually cooperated with Theresia Harsini Setiady, from PT Kalbe Farma to make cosmetics and herbal medicine company, the name of PT Martina Berto, and Sariayu Martha Tilaar as launches the first product. Followed later by opening the first cosmetics factory at Pulo Ayang street, Pulogadung industry area, East Jakarta which was inaugurated by Mrs Nelly Adam Malik as the wife of the Vice President Adam Malik.

In 1983, Martha Tilaar established PT Sari Ayu Indonesia, specifically as a distributor of cosmetic products Sariayu Martha Tilaar. In 1986, Martha Tilaar opened a second factory on the street Pulokambing II/1, is still in the area Pulogadung industry area was inagurated by Ny. Karlinah Umar Wirahadikusumah, wife of the Vice President Umar Wirahadikusumah. Martha Tilaar's business continues to grow, with the acquisition of a number of companies until she and her family are fully controlled the shares of PT Martina Berto. At the same time it was undertaken to consolidate the company merged into the Martha Tilaar Group. Martha Tilaar Group subsidiary consisting of PT Martina Berto and PT Sari Jeweled Tiara (as manufacturing entrepreneurs and marketer of Sariayu Martha Tilaar product, Biokos Martha Tilaar, Belia Martha Tilaar, Berto Martha Tilaar, Aromatic Oil Of Java Martha Tilaar, Dewi Sri Spa Martha Tilaar, Jamu Garden Martha Tilaar).

Martha Tilaar launched several products, there are Senja di Sriwedari (1987), Sumatra-style (1989), Puri Prameswari (1990), Bali and ethnicities to the Palm Grove (1991), Asmat (1992), History of Irian Jaya/Papua, Rama-Rama Toraja (1993). And, its peak is the trend color Pusako Minang from Minangkabau. Although, Martha Tilaar product is a local products but it is able to become a trendsetter makeup women Indonesia and worldwide.

As an entrepreneur, turned out to be an unyielding personality was the one who took him to be a success as it is now. Since her teens, Martha's been accustomed to selling refreshments to supplement the money pouch. She also likes to take ‘Sogok Telik’ and ‘Jali-jali Putih’, which thrives in the grandmother’s land to be assembled into a necklace and a bracelet. The jewels she sold to his friends at school.

In 1984, she earned a doctorate (Honoris Causa) in the field of "Fashion and's Artistry" of World University Belfast, Arizona, USA. She is living life to the fullest the wonders of God's power. He had been convicted was barren by doctors, blessing the fresh herbs by her grandmother finally at 42 years old, she is pregnant and in the following years born three generations which has became successful people. Martha Tilaar has a high commitment to build industrial cosmetics. It is a great investment in the field of research and development (R&D). as a form of awareness of the Indonesian women, Martha established Martha Tilaar Foundation. She educated many women and mothers about beauty. Purpose is to make them understand that beauty can take care of themselves. Martha Tilaar has always relied on the power of research and researchers 37 at Martha Tilaar's Innovation Center (MTIC), it's what makes martha tilaar won the ISO 9001, ISO 14000, and GMP certification in Asia in 1996. Martha Tilaar business keys to success there are two things the empowerment of human resources and focus on one area, in this case martha take the field starts from the beauty salon, then schools, factories, distribution, all of which are in the field of beauty.
